My 26th Birthday
January 28, 2019
Contrary to what most of my friends think, my preference of a birthday celebration is minimal to none (a birthday wish is good enough). I get really stressed up every year after welcoming the new year because I have friends asking about my birthday plans. It's very kind and nice of everyone to be so excited but all I want is a peaceful and quiet birthday every year.
There are some people around me that cannot understand why I don't hold birthday parties, dinners, etc.and for the longest time, I seriously thought that I had a problem because they made it seem so. But this year, at 26, after so many years of experiencing the same old feelings, I realized that I do not have a problem. It's just that I've got my own favourite way on how I want to celebrate my birthday. I want to spend the last few weeks of being 25 alone and spend the first day of being 26 alone as well, as simple as that.
So since my birthday fell on a Friday this year, I took a day off to run errands alone, something I haven't been doing in a long time. I went to service my car in the morning which lasted until lunch time, which I then drove to office to collect gifts from friends who sent them over, and finally, dropped by Floristika Bangsar to get myself some succulents and flowers.
Every birthday wish is a blessing for me and I'm very grateful to all my friends that wished me. Thank you for wishing me, you know who you are! Regardless of what others think about my choice of birthday celebration, I'm so thankful that all my close friends understood this and even though it took them quite a few years to remember that I really don't want anything for my birthday, this year, it showed and I'm so happy.
Back in 2018, I was fortunate to be able to savor Chef Justin's dishes at a team building event and at that time, he did mention that he was going to open a restaurant at Bukit Bintang. The mushroom soup and salmon dish was so good that I knew I had to go try the new place of his. Fast forward to January 2019, I was so happy to be able to taste Brixton 23 KL's 4-course dinner. I didn't get to take all of the food on my film camera but you can check out the phone photos HERE in the review I wrote for them. By the way, EVERYONE should eat there because it's worth the price and of course, very, very delicious!
There goes my birthday weekend and I'm happy once again. No more stressed feelings and no more anxiety issues (friends keep scaring me by saying they've plan surprises and I took it seriously). Also, I'm twenty-freaking-six now. To another year full of adventures and taking my blog seriously hehe. Cheers!!
xoxo,
R
