Day 4 In Jakarta (2019)
March 11, 2019
Started the day with a dry spicy mala hotpot with Mon and Ryan (thank you guys, we will return the favour when the both of you are visiting Kuala Lumpur). I tried this kind of dry spicy mala hotpot in KL before but it didn't impress me and with such rarity, the both of us (Abang and I) did not finish the dish we ordered. However, this particular one in Jakarta, Huang Ji Huang (黃記煌), is so, so good. We also found out that Malaysia has it's own Huang Ji Huang (黃記煌) branch while we were in Jakarta! It's called Simmer Huang at Pavilion Elite and I'm booking a table there right after I get back to KL. Nuff said.
Did I mentioned that aside from being a tourist in Jakarta, Abang and I were also in our AirBnb watching Lucifer? By now we were already in the first few episodes of season 2 and we continued our Netflix marathon after brunch with the two lovebirds.
In the evening, we got our excited asses to the second night of Java Jazz Festival AKA the night I've been waiting for! I was overly excited for Raveena's special show till I had no appetite to take my dinner. After having a few bites of chicken popcorn, I dragged Abang to line up with me for Raveena's showcase.
I made sure I stood in front of the stage to get the best view of my shanti goddess who blew my evening away with her silk-like vocals and beautiful soul. I took so many photos of her on my film camera and here are some of favourites:
Raveena's showcase was amazing and I am so fortunate to be able to see her perform live. The next stage we headed to was to Mac Ayres's stage but sadly I was slightly late and couldn't get to the front due to the crazy amount of people that were already in the hall. My zoom cam can only go this near:
The last artist that we were going to catch for the night was James Vickery and omg, he is so good?!???!?!!? I got goosebumps when I listened to his songs on Spotify so imagine being there and listening him sing live.
Fourth day of Jakarta was super fun and I can't believe that we will be back to Kuala Lumpur a day after tomorrow! I want to have another round of Huang Ji Huang (黃記煌) if my tummy could take it! Also, to be able to see Raveena perform live was the best moment and I have no regrets of making my way across the ocean to see this beautiful being on stage.
It was a super tiring night, danced too much at the festival and also very hungry as I hadn't a proper dinner. Well, no problem, we had satay kambing for supper while continuing Lucifer for the night!
See you in the next and final blog post of my Jakarta trip!
