I still cannot believe I went into YOLO-mode, bought tickets on 3rd June for a 24th June SHINee World V concert and naturally booking a night flight to Bangkok right after that which was more expensive than it should be. It was a short trip, so short that people around me actually said how silly I was to not stay for a longer period in Bangkok. It was literally, land, go concert, and fly back to Malaysia.
I remember feeling financially inadequate to fund my concert wishes especially when the concert is somewhere out of Malaysia. And for Kpop stars such as SHINee who lands in Bangkok, Singapore, and Jakarta, rather than Malaysia, it's difficult for me to go watch my favourite boys perform live.
Of course the night street food was part of the plan aside from SHINee duh |
What happened was it occurred to me that SHINee was having their concert tour which I normally ignore because I know I won't get to attend. But the thought of me already having a stable job and that I can actually pay for trips got me the itch to think if there was a chance I could grab a ticket to their Taiwan concert (which was supposed to be the last stop). Sadly, the last two tickets sold out before I could even click the buy button.
I was devastated that I miss this round of the SHINee concert and found out that they even had a concert at Jakarta as well! But then with a little more reading about the concert, I found out that they decided to do a Bangkok concert last minute and I knew I couldn't miss this time around.
TVXQ's concert was one that I wanted to go badly but had no chance to and now since they've disband, what are the chances. I didn't want to have that regret so I knew I had to go see SHINee as a whole just in case (ofc I really hope they stay together forever). Texted my 1 of 1 girl who already attended the boys' concert 2 years ago at Singapore, she said yes, I said yes and there we were in Bangkok!
Woke up the next day with a super excited feeling! I thought back to the days when we would wake up at 9am, grab a breakfast at McD before taking the train to Sepang Circuit to wait the whole day to make sure we were the first to get into the arena to get the best spot. That was when we were young hahahaha so this time we decided to just chill and arrive at the stadium just 2 hours before the show starts. I don't think I can do that day-camping thing for concerts anymore. It's very tiring.
Mario Maurer spotted first! |
First stop was Luka Cafe where it is also a furniture shop selling curated items. The main wooden door was also a good place for those who love to take #ootd-s. The place has a nice ambiance and service was good! We had coffee and some light snacks before moving on to Siam Square One for lunch at the White Flower Factory. Take note that you will need to be on a waiting list if you show up without a booking. We waited for almost an hour for our turn to get a seat. Was the food worth the wait? I'd say it was not too bad but I believe there are other restaurants out there that serve good Thai food without needing to queue for a long time.
James Jirayu was everywhere, Aum only appeared once, Nadech and Yaya my fav, and Boy also everywhere, same goes to Mario. |
Right after White Flower Factory, Vivienne and I headed off to the Thunder Dome Stadium where we got super, super excited upon seeing SHINee's banners outside. Though the weather was a little bit gloomy and the fact that merchandises were sold out, we were still very, very excited to get into the stadium. As expected, it started to pour and the both of us queued in the gents with the rest of the other fans. We really apologize to all the guys that wanted to release themselves but can't do so due to the influx of girls in the washroom but it's raining outside so......this is the only shelter we have!
On a side note, the video to inform us on the dos and don'ts during and for the concert took up to 10 minutes. That's how serious they were about the concerts. Vivienne and I brought film cameras because we were using it in the afternoon but that was forbidden as well as food and drinks. But thankfully they had a special counter where you can deposit your items there and claim it after the concert unlike Malaysia where you just leave it outside the concert hall and anyone else can just grab and go. My advice would be to bring a smaller bag so you won't have a lot of junk to bring in there.
P/S: Paper bags/posters/placards larger than A4 paper size are not allowed too. And their security are really strict on no recording with smartphones. If you are unlucky you will have to go out of the stadium and delete every single recording/photos taken during the concert. I was warned so many times or not I would have taken better videos and photos but yeah, I didn't want to risk deleting everything!
The moment of just stepping into the rockpit and looking at the stage where the boys will be performing later was just blowing my mind away, and mind you the concert hasn't even started! Finally after so many years of talking about SHINee, I will be able to actually witness the greatness of these 5 passionate souls right in front of my eyes!

Yes, Kibum ♥ we can feel your heart! |
Thank you for the amazing show SHINee ♥ |
1) The aftermath. 2) Me thinking the boys were coming out again. 3) This experience was possible because of my 1 of 1 girl, Vivienne ♥ |
The concert was AMAZING!!! To us who came 2 hours prior to the start of the show, we actually got a pretty sick spot where the boys were sooooo near! It was a surreal experience to actually see them so up close and goodness the whole concert was like an enormous noraebang (karaoke room) where we were all singing along with SHINee! It was a very satisfying feeling and I cannot wait for the next concert hahahaha πππ
We were both really tired towards the end of the concert because we slept really late the night before and obviously because we haven't been doing this for like, the longest time! Anyway, food is a must after so many hours of fangirling so we met up with her parents and off we were to Ratchada Train Station Night Market and had seafood for dinner!
That night after the concert, we were both still talking about it even after the lights were off because we just couldn't contain our happiness of watching SHINee live together a few hours ago. We reminisce about our times together at university where we became friends, even so much more after we found out we were both Shawols. SHINee is and will always be the meaning to our university lives. I've always wanted to attend a SHINee concert with Vivienne because I have no other friend who shares the same craziness and love for these boys than she does and that's checked off the list now! I am so happy! π
Woke up early the next day to catch my flight back to Malaysia alone. I had fun feeling lost at the airport for this trip actually hahaha. Anyway, the whole time I was just on my phone, editing photos, watching those 1-second videos I recorded, and of course, kept getting crazy about the whole event on my Instagram while waiting for my flight.
As much as I love SHINee as a whole, I love Jonghyun so much more. He will always be my first oppa-love forever and no one can ever replace that (fell in love with Jjong within 0.00000000001 second after he appeared at 0:07 in the Noona Neomu Yeppeo MV). Not even my future husband hahahaha. I was really happy to see him so close up on stage and he was perfect. I cried so hard when he sang μ κΌ¬λ (Please Don't Go) with Onew because the song was about missing that someone but she/he is not in your life anymore. The chorus calls out to that person saying that he/she can't just leave like that and I was feeling that part so much because I didn't want Jonghyun to leave (fangirl problems). Plus, the melody was as sad as the lyrics so of course I got all teary-eyed which led to crying and Vivienne consoling me.
Anyhow I am truly grateful I made the choice to come see you and SHINee, forever my dino oppa, Jonghyun I love you! ♥ See all of you soon!
