Stoned & Co. F/W17 Descendant Collection Preview
November 25, 2017
As much as this post is supposed to be talking about the Stoned & Co. F/W17 Descendant Collection Preview, I would be talking about my film photography endeavor first. A few days ago I consulted Koon Yik from Bang Bang Geng on how I should be taking nice photos indoors for an event. It wasn't a commissioned job but merely something I wanted to try out and practice at the same time. He briefed me on what to do and how to take during the event and suggested that I should get the Portra 800 which scared me a little, because it had an ISO of 800, something I've never attempted before. Nevertheless, I still went on with it and the settings that were pre-set by KY.
After the photos were developed and scanned, I really loved it! I was actually expecting it to be badly overexposed though some were yellow-ish due to me adjusting the settings away from the one that KY initially set for me. But then, I saw it as having a variety of shots and after all, I'm still in the process of learning so no harm on making the mistakes.
We arrived a few hours earlier, got everything ready, and even had the time for Starbucks. Music was amazing and people were coming in. I was quite nervous because it was my first time having to speak to the guests as I normally mind my own business doing social media coverage at events. Thank goodness it was only for that few hours and also, I was glad that many familiar faces attended the event too!
I really loved the idea of attending an event on a working day. It's still working but much more fun with the rest as it's more casual. This collection by Stoned & Co. is also very unique in the sense that the signature Japanese Maple Leaves in it's orange hue really captured the attention as it stands out among the mostly black pieces in the collection. Though the Japanese Maple Leaves were either embroidered or printed in different garments, I would say both versions were equally unique and captivating in it's own way. You can take a look at the collection at the Stoned & Co. website HERE.
I was actually pretty excited on the outcome of this roll of film but thanks to KY he helped me pre-set the settings which allowed me to take all these nice photos. Again, need more and more practice. I feel I'm not practicing enough and I think improvements are going to be slightly minor. Till then, need to keep shooting!
